We are recruiting a:

Nursing Assistant

Main responsibilities

  • Ensure the comfort, security, well-being and general needs of our residents while respecting the establishment’s standards;
  • Monitor residents’ medical files and prescriptions based on instructions given by the doctor and pharmacist. Coordinate the routing of medical reports;
  • Manage residents’ appointments with the residence’s doctor. Viisit residents as required. Maintain the “residents’ files” contained in the emergency binder up to date;
  • Perform various procedures, including checking vital signs, injections and applying aseptic techniques, including bandaging;
  • Promote the proactive management of residents’ health and direct them to specialists to be consulted as needed;
  • Communicate and follow-up with colleagues regarding medical events via the logbook;
  • Contribute, with the director, to the intervention plan in cases when residents show signs of loss of autonomy. Contribute to the assessment of care needs in conjunction with the various stakeholders and suggest meetings with specialists, as needed;
  • Act as an intermediary, if necessary, with the family and/or health institutions;
  • Train staff to deal with medical emergencies and carry out administrative follow-up of employees’ CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and PDSB (Principles for the safe moving of patients) certificates;
  • Respond to and intervene in emergencies, as needed;
  • Perform all other related tasks.

  • Interpersonal communication skills and listening ability;
  • Warm and open to others;
  • Dynamic, autonomous, self starter;

Qualifications required

  • DEP in health, assistance and nursing care;
  • Member of l’Ordre des infirmiers auxiliaires du Québec;
  • 2 to 5 years of experience as a Nursing Assistant;
  • Experience working or volunteering with the elderly (an asset);
  • CPR/DEA (automated external defibrillation), PDSB and Loi 90;
  • Knowledge of Word and Excel software.
